Over the next year or so the structure of the United Methodist Church could change.

Even though most of the discussion has been going on behind the scenes, the discussions that have been going on for the past two years (in earnest) and decisions that will be made over the next year to two years, will significantly impact the global United Methodist Church and will also affect the ministries of our little part of the world here in Bryson City, NC.

Recently, Bishop Ken Carter who served as our District Superintendent prior to being elected to serve as the bishop for the Florida Conference, now is a moderator and wise voice for the Commission on a Way Forward. To give you a little background about what has been going on, the Commission on a Way Forward was proposed by the Council of Bishops and approved by the 2016 General Conference to do a complete examination and possible revision of every paragraph of the Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality and explore options that help to maintain and strengthen the unity of the church.
